Russia forecast launched: 46 kite spots in one planner

What is connected

For every point, the service requests hourly ICON, ECMWF IFS and GFS forecasts through Open-Meteo. It compares wind strength with rider weight, level and selected twin-tip kite size, while separately considering gusts, precipitation and model spread.

Where a verified camera or station page exists, the result includes a direct source link. Driving routes open in Yandex Maps.

• 46 Russian forecast points with eight days of source data and a seven-day planning interface.
• 13 Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region spots with verified shore-relative working sectors.
• 33 additional points with a preliminary wind filter and a mandatory local check.
• 12 camera and wind-source entries in the Russian registry, with type and availability kept separate.

Why not every card can turn green

A distant spot cannot be assessed from an 8 m/s forecast alone. The exact side-on or onshore sector, obstacles, access and rescue arrangements must be verified for the launch. The service does not invent a safe sector when those facts are missing.

The 33 new points are therefore capped at 68/96. A yellow card means only that a wind window deserves further investigation. It does not mean the spot is safe, open or suitable for a particular rider.

Planning a longer trip

Choose Russia or search for a specific spot on the home page, then set weight, level, kite and period. Read the window in the spot's local time, check model agreement, open any available camera and build the route.

Before a long drive, recheck the forecast and contact the local station or community. At the shore, verify actual wind, shore-relative direction, gusts, storms, water temperature, obstacles, traffic, rescue, equipment, a riding partner and your own condition. The planner filters information; it is not clearance to launch.

Next steps

We will verify shore sectors one spot at a time through primary station pages and local experts, and connect officially available numeric stations. A point moves from the preliminary filter to full shore-aware scoring only after verification.
